About
Our Bible Lab
To instill in the
pliable minds of our young, and any who might join them, the
inspired truths of God's Word, is a primary
concern of the Riverside Drive congregation. Being able to present
Biblically based facts in a technically advanced environment
is our aim for children in Bible classes for grades two through
eight.
The concept of "Bible
Lab" has been used for several years by a number of congregations
across America. About six months diligent work was invested
in preparing for this method of learning. A number of Riverside
members, under the direction and coordination of deacon Tony
Shell and others, spent hundreds of hours in making preparation
for Bible Lab, which
started in July 2003. A
considerable financial investment was made, including a major
modification of the lay-out of the first floor of our building.
Some general features
of Bible Lab include the following:
1. Each student is assigned
a fully equipped office cubical, his or her own personal, permanent
work station.
2. Except for a general assembly
at the conclusion of each class session, each student works alone,
at their own academic pace, carrying out a series of assignments
that guide them through the Old and New Testament scriptures.
3. If a student misses a class
in the Sunday AM - Wednesday PM series, they return to resume
their study at the point
where they were
previously working.
4. Computerized Bible programs,
high class visual aids, and an adequate research library are
available for the students use.
5. Rather than the teacher
simply telling the students answers to questions concerning Biblical
knowledge and its application, each pupil is encouraged to seek
and find the correct answer for themselves.
6. Qualified and trained teachers
work with each student on a one-on-one basis to help guide them
through the elaborately planned curriculum. After each section
of work is completed by a student, it is checked and discussed
with a teacher, before proceeding to the next area of material.
